Oberreit’s “K” Pendant

I continue to be amazed by the beautiful work being created in our metal clay community.  Kelley Oberreit posted some awesome new work on her Facebook page and I was lucky enough to catch wind of it.  The challenge was selecting which piece to show you.  Tough choice.
Her “K” pendant is built in silver clay [...]

Simon’s Maltese Fish

I just completed a two-day workshop with Barbara Becker Simon called “A Smorgasbord of Beads”.  Barbara generously shared her vast knowledge as she shepherded us through the creation of 3 hollow beads, one each of COPPRClay, BRONZClay and PMC3. I found it very cool that these beads were each constructed from multiple metal clay elements [...]

Lewis’ Cholla

Donna Lewis has done it again with this amazing “Cholla” pendant.  This piece makes the most of what metal clay does so well.  The detailed texture is taken directly from nature, giving it an organic shape and feel.  I really appreciate how the piece follows the 3-dimensional form of the cactus, and the negative spaces [...]

Nicola Callow of Murano Silver is developing a series of one of a kind pieces based on a theme called “Thoth”.  This ambitious piece will surely make the wearer stand up a bit taller when she enters a room! You can see the listing for this piece here in Murano Silver’s Etsy store, where she [...]

Gallerani’s Mermaid

When I saw this piece in progress last week on Bev Gallerani’s Mango Tango Designs blog, I was intrigued.  The finished result is gorgeous, and Bev complemented the focal piece beautifully with matching fine silver tube beads and richly hued lampwork glass beads.  I’ve been admiring Bev’s signature beach-inspired look for some time, but she [...]

Smith-Righter’s Vault

This “Vault” pendant is the second in a series by Jennifer Smith-Righter inspired by bank vault doors.  This intricate piece has lovely mechanical details, such as a spinning element that reveals changing colors on the back side.  Very cool.  Click here for a photo of the back of this piece.
For more of Jennifer’s wearable art, [...]

Swanson’s Cross Pendants

Teresa Swanson of TZTUDIO caught my eye today with this his and hers set of cross pendants.  I really appreciate how she transformed this familiar symbol into masculine and feminine versions without being too obvious about it.  The pieces appear to be roughly the same size and shape, so Teresa didn’t rely on scale to [...]
