Lewis’ Cholla

Donna Lewis has done it again with this amazing “Cholla” pendant.  This piece makes the most of what metal clay does so well.  The detailed texture is taken directly from nature, giving it an organic shape and feel.  I really appreciate how the piece follows the 3-dimensional form of the cactus, and the negative spaces are what first grabbed my attention.  Not being from the desert myself, I wasn’t familiar with cholla cactus, but I did a Google image search and the results are here.
